Sara and I saw Pawel Pawlikowski’s film Ida last night. This is one of the truly great ones. Strangers in Film Forum had a spontaneous chat session about how excellent it was after the credits. The cinematography is totally unique and extremely modern while still imbuing the film with a deep history. The framing, above all, is stunning but the velvety black and white is the best I have seen in years. On top of that it is an incredible story and has a lovely and haunting young star named Agata Trzebuchowska. You really should not miss this one in the theater. Go Now!
