Tonight we went to City Winery to a fund raiser for Greenwich House where my (oldest) friend David Gibson was being honored just for being really nice. Dave began doing his ceramics, he has a masters, at GH for about 10 years now and has become an indispensable part of the ceramics department there. He teaches, assists, runs the kilns, advises, cleans up, polices, gurus, and generally helps keep the place afloat. What is amazing is that he moved to NYC and instantly was associated with such an incredibly storied and venerable establishment. Dave has always done whatever he is doing 110+% and has never really been celebrated for that, in a positive way. I am very proud and very happy that everyone else has finally figured out that he is really amazing and needs a crystal bowl that says so. If you don’t know anything about Greenwich House then go over there and check it out OR check them out online. More importantly DONATE some money to them! They do incredible things for the community and the arts. There are very few places as cool as this in the USA.
