Eating Animals Lindsborg, KS/Nebraska

Chris and I went back to Frank Reese’s for the last time (maybe) last week.  Franks is way out in the boonies in Lindsborg, KS.  As vegans there we tend to survive on sauerkraut sandwiches and beer at the Ol Stuga.  Ben was with us too to show off the the beginnings of the Good Shepherd Institute, which is slowly becoming a reality.  Frank is so impressive. Aside from the endless back breaking work he does, his knowledge of these chickens and turkeys is incredible.  We shot him both holding and talking about his birds and looking thru old magazines and describing each bird in fascinating and encyclopedic detail.  It was so great to get back into that realm and see Frank through those eyes again.  I will miss him.  Jim Keen met us there to see the farm again and then we went with him back to Lincoln, NE to see his new set up.  He has been through some devastating stuff since his whistleblowing, but this time we saw that he is becoming quite animated about his new role with HSUS and his growing activism.  It was great to see him that way.  Sarah P. turned us on to The Zoo Bar in Lincoln, where we saw a kind of Live Band Karaoke that was hilarious and inspiring.  This job goes on and on and is really hard and really fun.  I will miss it.
