I spent most of the last two weeks in LA.  Here are the best parts:

Hank and I were making a spot for EE, a UK Cell service, starring Kevin Bacon as almost everybody in the commercial.  He put up with a lot of amazing shit, he had several elaborate make up looks, and had to deal with a live tarantula.  We shot on a huge stage, which in Hollywood are always just a little bit bigger and better.

I came home for the weekend, really about 36 hrs, but it is always worth it.  Saturday Sara had gotten us tickets to a really great modern take on Sense and Sensibility at the Judson Church near our house.  The actors created all the sets with a few movable flats and chairs on wheels.  They were kind of making fun of Victorian life the whole time.  The whole thing was one of those things that reminds you what a good idea it is to live in NYC.  Sunday we went to the Guggenheim to see the Fischli & Weiss show which was just as good, and filled out my cultural NY stopover.

Back in LA we had 4 days to shoot 4?5? commercials with KB.  Dan and I stayed in an Air BnB right near our stage and Jamie brought us bikes so we could ride everywhere.  I stayed entirely downtown the whole time.  Lizzie refers to Downtown LA (DTLA) as a “douche corral” and I think she is right but for my purposes it was OK.  I did a very good job of seeking out the best it had to offer.  Here are my fav food/coffee spots in order.  Bestia was the best, most NY-y, food I could find,

but Mignon, Eggslut, and Everson Royce Bar were all V good too.  GB and Verve coffee were my Favs down there.  Krantz and I went to Full House for Chinese, technically a cheat because I had to drive, which was good as well.
